Rest in Peace, Satoru Iwata

This is something that may not mean a whole lot of anything to most of you guys, but to me, it means something.

This evening, the news came about that CEO of Nintendo - my favorite gaming company and one of my favorite companies of all - Satoru Iwata has passed away at the age of 55.

This man always came off as fun, especially in his most recent appearances to Nintendo fans. He created and help create some of the best games ever made, and made the most of his time.

This isn't the most important thing to a lot, yes, but Nintendo has always been that place that I can go to and get away from it all. Their games help me forget about life for awhile, all of its hardships, and just have a good time in a world that doesn't exist.

It's a very sad thing that a man like him died at such a young age. He will be remembered, in the hearts of gamers, both novice and experienced. Rest in peace, Satoru Iwata.

While this was written towards my friends on Facebook - most of which do not have any sort of attachment to Nintendo as I would - I wanted to add my two cents anyway, thinking someone else might have a word to say on the matter as well.

Nonetheless, everything I said there pretty much applies here: Mr. Iwata was an entertaining man who loved the company he worked for. I never got to see some of his latest appearances, but I know people really liked him because of how he came off. 

My friend came to me with the news and as soon as I read the official notice from Nintendo provided from the story (nintendoeverything.com/nintend…), I immediately began searching every social media source I could find to watch the news unfold. It's a shock, a surprise, a sad moment, and to some, uncalled for, but I won't go into detail about that.

Nintendo and their games have been and always will be my escape from reality: if there's one thing I always love doing is popping in a game to any of my Nintendo consoles or handhelds and just having an amazing time. My thing is that Nintendo games stand out from something like games made for Xbox or PlayStation, at least the most popular ones that sell those systems: Nintendo games are cartoony, not real, and colorful. They create a world that aims to not mimic ours, and that makes the game fun for me. It allows me to forget about life for awhile. Nintendo has always been the best to me, and I'm sure Mr. Iwata has only worked to continue that legacy of making Nintendo the best.

He will be missed.</p>
